Laura K. Buttrell

Laura Buttrell has been a lawyer in California since 2001 and is senior counsel at Jacobsen & McElroy. She began her college career at CU in Boulder, Colorado, her home state. After two years at Boulder, Laura decided to take time off and traveled oversees extensively for a number of years, including living in Australia for two of those years. She completed her college career at UC Davis in 1990 in Psychology. After working in the private sector for several years, she decided to pursue a legal career. She obtained her law degree from Lincoln Law School in 1999, while working full time.

Since being admitted to the bar, Laura has practiced primarily in the area of civil litigation defense. She has experience in a wide variety of legal areas including personal injury, premises liability, subrogation, mold cases and construction defect. Prior to her move to defense of civil litigation matters, Laura was general counsel for a nationwide not-for-profit purchasing group which provided an insurance program for subcontractors. She was responsible for all legal issues affecting the company including litigation, employment law issues, contract negotiations, and the company’s compliance with insurance regulations and registration in 37 states.

Laura enjoys hiking with her husband and several dogs. She also likes to garden, read, and travel.
